The Athenaeum is a prominent protected building in the heart of Enniscorthy which is steeped in the history of the 1916 rising. The building having been closed since 2004 needed to be completely refurbished, upgraded and meet current fire and disability access regulations. The conservation elements like the sash windows, the lime render walls and the decorative cornice were all completely restored. All works were completed on time to be the centre piece for the 1916 commemoration celebrations in Wexford.
